Old World presents... "THAT β OUT β STUFF: DIRECTIONS IN LOS ANGELES JAZZ". A collective of musicians come together to play 3 sets of original music, sharing current sounds shaping the Los Angeles jazz tradition. Training: Hamilton High School Music Academy; UCLA Department of Ethnomusicology, studied with Kenny Burrell, Billy Higgins, Gerald Wilson, and others.
Affiliations: played and recorded with Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Horace Tapscott, Gerald Wilson, Lauryn Hill, Nas, Snoop Dogg, George Duke, Chaka Khan, Francisco Aguabella, Pan Afrikaan Peoples Orchestra and Raphael Saadiq.
Notes: Los Angeles native raised in Inglewood, CA. He'll be releasing his next solo album this year under the Brainfeeder label.

Brandon Coleman

Training: Self-taught.
Affiliations: played with Roy Hargrove, Stanley Clarke, Sheila E, Brian McKnight, Rachelle Ferrell, Babyface, Karen Briggs, Andrew Gouche, Kamasi Washington, Sy Smith, and Polyester Players.
Notes: native of South Central Los Angeles. Began learning piano on his own at the age of 17. Released his first album, "Self Taught", in May of 2011.

Training: Colburn School of Music, LA, studied with John Clayton, Ray Brown, and Al McKibbon.
Affiliations: toured with Lauryn Hill, Mos Def, and Herbie Hancock; collaborated with India Arie, Christina Aguilera, Jason Mraz, Chris Cornell, and Avenged Sevenfold; played with Gnarls Barkley Orchestra at the 2007 Grammy Awards telecast, and Jeff Beck at the Greek Theater.
Notes: Featured in Bass Player Magazine. A vocalist, producer, arranger, and an accomplished composer, his latest compositions were featured on Disney Motion Picture Studioβs βThe Muppetsβ movie trailer (2011).
