Fresh off their first ever tour of Europe, Brooklyn trio BOYTOY has premiered a cover of The Eyes’ classic song, “When The Night Falls”, today via ELEVTRTRAX – share via Soundcloud – and announced a three-night tour of Puerto Rico, December 1-3 (dates below).

Guitarist/vocalist Saara Untracht-Oakner stated, "I forgot where I first heard this song, but when I did I was totally entranced. It was one of the sexiest songs I'd ever heard - so much feel and so much cool for such a simple song. I loved how it could convey so much with so little. I wanted to cover it for a while, but never actually tried. Then one day this summer I was playing it in the car and proposed it to Glenn [van Dyke] and Chase [Noelle] and they were both super into it. So Chase learned the drum part and Glenn came in with some tambourine and psychy noise guitar stuff. I borrowed Chase’s harmonica and we laid down our version on the song in a little studio that Glenn rents out in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.”

BOYTOY continue to support their debut full-length album, Grackle, which arrived in the autumn of 2015 on PaperCup Music, which NYLON called, “catchy, fun and addictive, floating somewhere between 60’s surf jams and 90’s grunge rock,” and led Rolling Stone to suggest you, “stretch out on the beach and crank up your headphones.”

BOYTOY formed when Saara Utracht-Oakner graduated from college in Boston and headed back home to New York, hooking up with fellow guitarist/vocalist, and Florida-native, Glenn Van Dyke. Their mutual interest in surfing, skating and DIY punk/pop rock led them to click instantly. Their self-titled debut EP dropped in 2014, garnering praise from outlets such as Noisey, Stereogum, SPIN, The Village Voice, Time Out New York. The duo headed into the studio in Philadelphia in the spring of 2015 with producer Al Creedon (Eternal Summers/Bleeding Rainbow) to record, resulting in 11 tracks of no nonsense, rock n’ roll bangers, and melodic hooks galore.

Take a shot of surf and garnish it with gangster oldies and tears. You'll have yourself a SadGirl cocktail—tiki umbrella and tear drop tattoo not included. SadGirl is Misha Lindes (guitar/vocals), Paul Caruso (drums) and Dakota Peterson (bass). The lo-fi surf-wop band is one of the newer LA groups making waves these days (pun intended).

"They deliver a slightly broody take on the classic surf sound while tracks like "Breakfast is Over" echo the likes of Rosie & The Originals on an Art Laboe special (only it ain't no love song)." - Lauren Camacho, Creations LA
