Dam Funk
Dam Funk
Known as Los Angeles' "Ambassador of Boogie Funk," Dãm-Funk represents the citizens of the Funkmosphere. Headquartered in the Leimert Park section of L.A., Dãm (pronounced: 'Dame' as in Damon) spent the last few years cultivating a musical renaissance rooted in the early-'80s styles known as Boogie, Modern Soul and Electro-Funk.

The next phase of the Ambassador's mission is his debut album Toeachizown: continuing the classic West Coast tradition into today's scene with Dãm's own original "Modern-Funk" compositions. By plugging in his arsenal of vintage synths and drum machines, Dãm channels the galactic harmonies of his inspiration into his own brand of new boogie. Stones Throw Records' like-minded honcho Peanut Butter Wolf brought Dãm on to the team to glide into the future with his unique, synth and bass-driven vibe. It's a promising new chapter for Southern Cali space funk.
Chester Watson
Chester Watson
One of the most gifted teenaged rappers this side of Earl, Nas, or Andre. The Monotone Samurai, the leader of Nu Age, lungs black as his irises, a young searcher wrestling with the present and future. Chester Watson is an adolescent gypsy that skated through St. Louis, Georgia, and Florida, blessed with a wild imagination, precocity, and a dark temperament. He re-imagined himself as a cursed black Pharaoh covered in golden scarabs, an enigma with wings, spitting raps as hot as Guatemalan springs. A new anti-hero with venom, the beast hallucinated on ayahuasca or just too much liquor. As Watson says himself, “the best villain since Mad-V.”

He creates dusted and damaged psychedelic music, ideal for imprecations and illicit behavior, baleful hymns and bleak parables. Rap for warm-hearted skeptics and seekers, smokers and sippers

"One of the best new musicians" - Complex

"A Florida teenager who sits so comfortably and skilfully amongst his influences that he already feels like their peer." -Pitchfork
Natia
If the return of the Rams and the refurbished Forum has people calling for the Inglewood renaissance, the contributions of Natia the God are equally vital. The streets-tested, Earl-approved artist emerged with last year’s “The Wrong Way,” in which he celebrated the joys of skating and Newports, his 2016 has found him creating poignant videos about the perils of homelessness and the joys of summer. Somewhere between Max B and Ghostface, Natia has created his own wave that refuses to crash.

One of the best rappers out the West Coast." - XXL

" The kind of artist you're mad no one told you about." - Viper Magazine
Jordan Raf
Jordan Raf is a Los Angeles-based recent art school graduate of UCLA. Like every artist worth a damn, he hates being compared to other musicians, but he's not going to pretend that this isn't part of the game. So fine, he's a cross between Grizzly Bear and Shlohmo or Oneohtrix Point Never and early My Morning Jacket. He plays the guitar, produces his own music, sings like a bird and has done enough damage to his liver and kidneys by the age of 21 to deserve a congressional medal of valor. The only thing he takes seriously is his music. Everything else is a joke -- as it should be.

"If you don't have a standard R&B baby-making playlist, start with Jordan Raf's music." - Stereogum

"Simultaneously charming and a bit unsettling." - Pigeons & Planes
Pioneer 11
Named after NASA’s 1973 robotic space probe of the same name, Pioneer 11 crearte transmissions from cosmic coordinates where the spacecraft is adrift. Psychedelia preserved in hazy, languid guitar riffs. If you’ve ever wondered what Darkside would sound like with the addition of Dilla literate beat masons, look no further. Space rock that's perfect for passing time while you’re waiting for the Metro or waiting for lift off.
Ness Nite
"Braless, Flawless, Lawless, Minneapolis-based Ness Nite makes music that with a lack of restrictions, floating in an intentionally undefined space among genres, weaving together vocal styles and varying production elements to create a sound heavy on vibe and light on constraint, This radical openness pervades Nite’s work, chasing an evolving self-definition. Gravitating towards a feel as opposed to a preconceived notion of a final product, Ness Nite is able to construct a soul-scorching, hybridized torchlight sound that is rare and striking. By taking the reins on the whole of her creative work, Ness Nite constructs a world onto herself that remains relatable." -- The Current (MN)
