Raw Fabrics
The forthcoming single “Time” - which was produced by Justin Raisen (Ariel Pink, Kim Gordon, Angel Olsen) heralds a new era for Raw Fabrics, who very nearly imploded following the release of their 2015 Plastic Joy EP. This urgent, punky up 4 song collection led them to share stages with the likes of Alt-J and Weezer, and garnered praise from the likes of Nylon, Baeble, Ladygunn, L.A. Music Blog, ARTISTdirect, and more. However, the frontman’s dark side completely consumed him. As Jack plunged into drug and alcohol addiction, his band mates left one by one, and his relationship with his girlfriend of five years came to an end. Holed up in a Los Angeles motel room watching interviews about musicians battling with addiction, he realized things needed to change and NOW.”

“It was a moment of clarity,” he admits. ‘It gave me a sense of hope that I had completely lost.’ The next day I checked myself into treatment, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made in my entire life. Getting clean gave me the strength to say, ‘Let’s turn the page.’ I began writing from a more real, honest place. The songs were pouring out. The other guys were gone. I still believed in the concept and vision of Raw Fabrics so decided to continue on my own.”

Weeks after completing treatment, Jack went back out on the road with just a live drummer in tow. He programmed the MPC, guitar, and bass loops, allowing him to switch instruments on stage every night. Some gigs he’d play guitar, while others he’d play bass or just command the stage singing over the barrage of sounds. The resulting shows proved to be the most unpredictable and unforgettable of his career thus far. That energy carried through to the studio. Handling most of the production, guitar, bass, vocals, and drum programming himself, he feverishly recorded as he puts it, “more songs in a few months than I had written in my entire career.”

“It would’ve been so easy to just quit,” Jack leaves off. “Music is too important to me. The message behind Raw Fabrics is too important for me just to give up. That message is looking at the core of things and trying to express honest emotions; it’s all about connection, that’s what saved my life. This is me. It’s more vulnerable and honest. It feels like for the first time it’s completely real. It feels like a new Raw Fabrics.”
