Sun Araw
Sun Araw
Cameron Stallones began his musical career as a founding member of the experimental psychedelic rock collective Magic Lantern. Soon after, demos originally intended to light the Lantern became the first Sun Araw LP: The Phynx. Sun Araw blossomed as a solo project in attempted geosynchronous orbit with the Eternal Now: oblique six-dimensional transmissions from changeless environs. Structural and spiritual inspiration for Sun Araw comes primarily from Cameron's first artistic love: film and filmmakers, especially those invested in the long-take (Tarkovsky, Altman, Bela Tarr, Greenaway). Devoted to long-form mantric music, the ethos is similar: straight lampin' in deep focus, angle after angle on the melodic object, gaining strength from the subsequent breakdown of the illusion of fixed perspective.

Since 2007, 4 full-length LPs, 3 EPs, and 5 cassettes have walked the mind-planes from psychedelic drone to melted afrobeat, from warped dub to minimal composition. These releases have been praised in Wire Magazine (who selected Heavy Deeds as one of the top 50 records of 2008, and On Patrol in the top 50 of 2010), The New Yorker, The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Uncut Magazine, Mojo, Pitchfork, and beyond. Sun Araw has performed in the US, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand with hundreds of artists including luminaries like Christian Fennesz and Konono No. 1. In early 2011, Cameron and M. Geddes Gengras traveled to Jamaica where they produced and recorded a collaboration album with roots reggae legends The Congos, set for release in the fall. While in and around Kingston, they also began producing dancehall singles and tracking local toasters under the name Duppy Gun Productions, which will be seeing release this summer.

Farmer Dave
Farmer Dave
Farmer Dave Scher is an artist from Southern California who specializes in the music / sound design / DJ / visual arts mediums.

In addition to his involvement with Beachwood Sparks, All Night Radio, West Coast Dream Sequence, and his self-titled work, Scher has worked as a producer and touring / session musician with Elvis Costello, Interpol, Jenny Lewis, Jonathan Rice, Will Oldham, Vetiver, and many others.

A multi-instrumentalist, Scher is known for his textural steel guitar playing and creative use of waveform editing, deriving themes and inspiration from forms and patterns existing in Nature. He has a particular love for the ocean and its creatures, and often emulates the sound and feel of the Sea with his music.

In 2010, Scher launched his multipurpose sound design and composing enterprise, Scher Sound, which offers a wide variety of audio-related creative services.

Scher is also the man behind Farmer Dave’s Hot Nuts, a habanero-roasted almond snack based on a family recipe.

Mr. Scher lives and works in Venice, CA. He enjoys beach living, surfing and riding his bicycle whenever possible.

House Shoes
Detroit Hip-Hop’s Ambassador to the World, Michael “House Shoes” Buchanan has been an integral part of the long burgeoning Motown resurgence. Just ask anyone coming out of Detroit to confirm this.

House Shoes, a resident DJ at the hip-hop staple St. Andrews Hall, Detroit MI, from 1994-2004 has had personal influence over a full generation of well respected emcees, producers, and then-future DJs. Four-time winner of the “Best Hip Hop DJ” in Detroit, he has used his platform to expose some of the best and brightest talent his city has had to offer.

As a DJ, ‘Shoes has toured extensively throughout the U.S., Europe, and Australia with artists Guilty Simpson, Illa J, Exile, Aloe Blacc, Percee P, Phat Kat, Slum Village and Elzhi, to name a few, as well as on his own, gaining the respect of acts far outside the scope of Detroit hip-hop. House Shoes also performed as tour DJ on Mayer Hawthorne & The County’s Spring 2010 16-city headlining U.S. tour.

As a producer, ‘Shoes has worked with the late and revered J Dilla and Big Proof, Black Milk, Danny Brown, Guilty Simpson, Roc Marciano, Chino XL, Invincible, Finale, MED, Nottz, Alchemist, Big Tone, Oh No, Elzhi, El Da Sensai(Artifacts), Black Spade, Now On(Mayer Hawthorne), and Moe Dirdee, among others.

Two self-produced 10” limited vinyl issues have also been released on Do-Over Records, backed by Flying Lotus, and All-City Records, respectively, and are already rare pieces. Most recently, he produced tracks on Danny Brown’s ‘XXX’ and Quelle’s ‘Shotgun and Sleek Rifle’ albums. His debut long-player “Let It Go”, and its pre-cursor “The Time EP”, are now available worldwide on Tres Records.

Currently he lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Constantly Dj’ing at events and parties from LA to Europe to Australia, Shoes’ is revered as a world class producer and DJ.
